Going into this offseason, the Jaguars finished with a record of 13-4, making the playoffs. Even though they lost in the Wild Card round, many Jags fans would consider the season a success. The reason is that the year before, they finished with a 3-14 record, a big turnaround. A major reason is the new head coach, Liam Coen. Liam Coen unlocked the full potential of this Jaguars team, but he mainly unlocked Trevor Lawrence’s. Trevor Lawrence threw for 4007 passing yards and 29 touchdowns. On the ground, he ran for 359 rushing yards and 9 rushing touchdowns. Trevor also finished in MVP voting.

During this offseason, the Jags lost some key players, including linebacker Devin Lloyd, who had 5 interceptions last year; running back Travis Etienne Jr., who rushed for 1,107 yards and 7 touchdowns last year; and cornerback Greg Newsome II, who had 1 interception last year. In free agency they only brought in running back Chris Rodriguez, primarily due to lack of salary cap. Though they did re-sign/extend some players, including edge rusher Travon Walker and cornerback Montaric Brown.

In the draft, the Jaguars did not have a first-round pick because, in the 2025 NFL Draft, they traded it, along with some other picks, for the 2025 2nd overall pick, with which they ended up drafting Travis Hunter. In the 2026 NFL Draft, the Jaguars got TE Nate Boerkircher, DT Albert Regis, OG Emmanuel Pregnon, S Jalen Husky, Edge Wesley Williams, TE Tanner Koziol, WR Josh Cameron, WR CJ Williams, Edge Zach Durfee, and LB Parker Hughs. The Jaguars also picked up some undrafted free agents, including QB Joey Aguilar and Edge Bryan Thomas Jr.

In training camp and practices, a couple of players have shown flashes, like 2nd-year running back Bhayshul Tuten, who is taking the starting running back role since the departure of Travis Etienne Jr. Also, Parker Washington has shown a lot of flashes and signs of improvement. Last year, he had to step up because the Jaguars struggled in the receiving game. He arrives at the practice facility at 5 A.M., and players say no one is more dedicated and hardworking than he is. Another person who has shown a lot of improvement is CB/WR Travis Hunter, who has gained some muscle this offseason. HC Liam Coen said that Travis Hunter will primarily play CB for the Jaguars this year but will get some snaps at WR.

In the preseason, fans didn’t get a preview of the season because HC Liam Coen said starters wouldn’t be playing, but they did get to see how the rookies and backups would play. In the preseason, there were some flashes from Edge Bryan Thomas Jr who made the 53-man roster. This preseason, the Jaguars moved on from backup QB Joey Aguilar and acquired Quinn Ewers. Most fans are confident in this team and believe that Trevor Lawrence will lead them to the promised land. Others think Lawrence’s season was a fluke and that the loss of key players will affect the team, but HC Liam Coen is confident in this team and believes they have a real shot at the Super Bowl.
