As the indoor track season approaches, Coach Kyle Reagen feels optimistic about his team’s potential. Reflecting on last year, he described it as “kind of an uneven season,” but noted that the team made significant progress towards the end. “In our last two meets, we won an Invitational and performed very well at the MIAA Championships,” he said. The team excelled in hurdles and jumps, with Charlie Butler standing out as the best distance runner in school history.

This year, Coach Reagen is excited about new talent joining the team. “Mr. Coach Davis hit the transfer portal hard in football, and we are expecting big contributions from sprinters we did not have last year,” he explained. Among the newcomers, Cordae Bethel is eligible to run after his transfer year, and freshman Demetrius Jackson is already making waves as an “electric hurdler.”
Looking ahead, Coach Reagen is confident in the team’s strengths. “I think we will continue to have the best hurdle group in the state,” he said, mentioning athletes like Malcolm Bediako and Ugonna Iheoma. Additionally, senior pole-vaulters Hayden Durst and Nolan Hershfeld have a real shot at breaking the school record.

When asked about the competition, Coach Reagen identified Calvert Hall as the favorite for the championship. “It should be a tight race for 2nd place between us and Gilman,” he noted, emphasizing that Loyola has improved significantly in sprints this year.
With the season kicking off soon, the team is ready to build on last year’s success and show what they can achieve together. The excitement is palpable as athletes prepare to hit the track and strive for their best performances!
