Is there ever a feeling inside you where you want to feel important? Or maybe like you’re wasting your life away doing nothing because there’s nothing that you are good at? Do you feel you need to stick with the crowd and try to do what you’re told, or will you be judged? I had this feeling for a long time, and it stopped me from doing anything. I have been playing piano since I was 5, and surfing since I was 8, and sometimes I still feel like I am wasting my life away.

The sad truth is that (from what I believe) it is today’s society and how we are growing up in Generation Z. There are computers everywhere, and adolescent behavior has resorted to hiding behind a screen. This has caused bullying to evolve to its easiest yet most harmful form, which is called cyberbullying. The newer generation is even worse. When we think of Generation Alpha, we think of terms like “brain rot” or “iPad kids.” Sadly, some of these toddlers barely ever go outside and spend whole days on iPads or a television set. No one seems to even realize it, but, this is our future, and we, as the last somewhat real generation, need to make the most of our time left.

Some people might ask, “How do I do that?”, and it is surprisingly simple: NO ONE CARES. Nobody cares at all what you do or what you say unless it involves them because they are too busy trying to figure themselves out. It may not seem like it, but everyone thinks the same exact way as you, and I can guarantee you that 90% of teenagers today are in the same dilemma. So this means that if no one truly cares, why should you? What’s causing you to be hesitant?
After practicing this thought, and integrating it into your daily life, I can say you will be much happier. There’s a sense of pride and not the bad kind. It may feel like you’re the only person that you need to please, which is absolutely true. Once you stop limiting yourself to rules, people, or a particular area, the world can become yours. Now, yes, this can become a bad trait, and you can become selfish, but to avoid that you just need to worry about yourself. Continue to be nice to your friends, family, and peers, of course, but loosen up a little bit. Their problems are not yours unless they directly involve you. You will eventually find something you’re talented at and a wasted feeling will finally go away.

Life is short, and the future ones to come will be sucked into the mundane glare of a video screen. So stop worrying so much, and just stop caring, because no one else does!
